Ellen Pompeo

Pompeo was born in Everett, Massachusetts, then lived on New York City's Upper West Side. Ellen is part Italian; her grandfather was born in Gesualdo, a village in Province of Avellino, Italy. Her mother died when she was four years old. In 1996, she was bartending at the SoHo Bar & Grill when an agent approached her about appearing in commercials. Subsequently appeared in commercials for Citibank and L'Oreal. She began her career with minor roles on television shows like Strangers with Candy and a handful of films. She also appears in Stereophonics' video for their single Have A Nice Day (U.S. version).

Determined to succeed in acting, Pompeo moved to Los Angeles in 2001. A turning point came when she was selected by director Brad Silberling in 2002 for a role in his film Moonlight Mile. She also appeared in the film Daredevil playing Matt Murdock's (Ben Affleck) secretary Karen Page, but most of her scenes were deleted from the theatrical version of the film. She portrayed Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend, Naomi, in the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but all her scenes were cut from the final film; They can be viewed on the collector's edition DVD of the film. In 2003 and 2002, Pompeo starred in Old School as Nicole and Catch Me If You Can as Marci. Her guest roles include two episodes of Law & Order and an episode of Friends.

Pompeo landed her first major role in the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy, as the title character, Meredith Grey, a surgical intern at a prestigious hospital. The show became the highest-rated show on network TV in its third season. In 2007, Pompeo was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Series. That year, she also signed a new contract for Grey's Anatomy that increased her salary to nearly $200,000 per episode.

30 Rock Season 1 starring: Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski

One Of My Favorite Current TV Shows!30 Rock is a hilarous comedy that chronicles the life of a live comedy sketch show. All of the cast members are great. Specifically, Tina Fey and Alex Baldwin give superb performances. Also, the scripts are excellent on this show. Always visually pleasing, you won't be disappointed. The season on DVD is great. The only thing I didn't like about this season on DVD is the special features. There are only about 5 episodes with commentaries and even then each one is done by only one person.

Jeff Dunham Arguing With Myself starring: Jeff Dunham

Jeff Dunham tickles my funny boneI ordered both DVD and boy did I laugh till my sides hurt!! he is so funny and the newest guys are a real hit and if you don't like it, "I kill you! " as the bomber would say...LOL. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next, a female "walter"?? The best part about the DVD, you have two verisons, clean (TV) or the adult (some parts not show on TV), Walter talks alot more about his sex life. If you want to laugh alot, then get busy and order it while supplies last at 20.00 for the set.
Laughing out loud
This is one of the entertaining videos I have ever watched. Well worth the "price of admission". Several different characters and lots of laughs.
Wonderful comedian!
This man stands on stage with his puppets and you would believe they are real people. You can help but love Walter the grouchy, old man who wants to be a Greeter at Walmart. You never know what to expect from Walter who make you wait for a man to return from the bathroom, then embarrasses him infront of the whole world (via the DVD). Then when he talks between two arguing puppets it is amazing. So fast, it is hard to keep up with him visually. Let alone believe he is all 3 in one person. A great stand-up comedian!
funny but very adult
I hadn't realized that there was nothing but adult humor in this. It's not for the virgin ears at heart. Althought I thought is was very funny and even a bit side splitting. Which is unsuall for me since I don't laugh at many comdeians. I thought the part on how he makes his puppets was very interesting. I think it would have been nice to know how Mr. Dunham became a vantriloquist but thats just me. If you like this one then you'll like his other one. Over all it was good for laughs after a hard days at work.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Seasons 1 2 starring: Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I'm addicted!
It's Always Sunny in Philedelphia is the funniest show on TV. Before I bought the DVD set, I only 'youtubed' the episodes. Now, I watch these episodes at least once a week. All of the characters bring humor to these really messed-up situations. Every episode, the gang gets a bright idea on how to make money, get a date, or play a prank. There's never a happy ending, and the means to the end will leave you rolling! This is my favorite show on DVD!
- Laugh Out Loud Hilarious
This is the best thing going on tv right now. A worthy heir to the legacy of Arrested Development. It's crude, politically incorrect and honest. Buy it today.
- Always Sunny and always Funny!
For the price of this product you sure get a lot, seasons 1 & 2, of Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Great show
- It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Get ready to laugh til it hurts. The "gang" will keep you in stitches in this Season I & II edition from FOX Home Video and you will surely watch it over and over and over and over! ENJOY and look forward to many more seasons of this hilarious comedy!
- consume early and often
Highly underrated, underexposed, show that delivers everything you could ask for in a comedy series. Highly recommend for anyone who loves drinking...

Wild Hogs Widescreen Edition starring: Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H. Macy, Ray Liotta

A coming-of-age story starring a bunch of fiftysomething stars rather than teenage actors, Wild Hogs is a well-intentioned comedy starring John Travolta (Woody), Tim Allen (Doug), Martin Lawrence (Bobby), and William H. Macy (Dudley) as a group of Midwesterners facing their own versions of mid-life crises. They decide to escape their frazzled personal lives and rejuvenate themselves by taking a road trip on their slick hogs. But their journey is less Easy Rider than it is Three Amigos (plus one). As individual actors, each lead is a formidable star. But throw them all together into one crammed screenplay full of scatological humor and uncomfortable homosexual gags and it doesn't quite work. The actors spend so much time trying to outdo each other on screen that they aren't believable as friends, much less comrades. Walt Becker (National Lampoon's Van Wilder) offers minimal direction on a film that could've used some reining in, especially during scenes between Macy and Marisa Tomei (as a diner owner who inexplicably falls for him). There are promises of some interesting vignettes when Ray Liotta shows up as Jack, the leader of a real motorcycle gang. When Jack threatens to break Dudley's legs, Dudley counters, "I'm a computer programmer! I don't need my legs." Without missing a beat, Jack says, "Fine, we'll break his hands." It's not that the lines are so funny, but they way Liotta delivers them that adds some life to this flailing comedy. Unfortunately, his scenes with the rest of the cast are all too few. --Jae-

Shrek the Third Widescreen Edition starring: Eddie Murphy, Justin Timberlake, Antonio Banderas, Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers

Shrek finds it doubly difficult for an ogre like himself to fill in for a king when his father-in-law King Harold of Far, Far Away falls ill in this third Shrek movie. Shrek's attempts to fulfill his kingly duties play like a blooper reel, with boat christenings and knighting ceremonies gone terribly wrong, and to say that Shrek (Mike Myers) is insecure about his new role is a gross understatement. When King Harold (John Cleese) passes away, Shrek sets out with Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and Puss-in-Boots (Antonio Banderas) to find Arthur (Justin Timberlake), the only heir in line for the throne besides himself. Just as Shrek sets sail to find Artie (as Arthur is more commonly known), Fiona (Cameron Diaz) shocks Shrek with the news that she's pregnant. Soon after, Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) sends Captain Hook (Ian McShane) in pursuit of Shrek and imprisons Fiona and her fellow Princesses as part of his plan to install himself as King of Far, Far Away. Shrek finds an awkward Artie jousting with his high school classmate Lancelot (John Krasinski) and, while Artie is certainly no picture of kingliness, Shrek is determined to drag him back to Far, Far Away to assume the throne. Mishaps and comedy abound, including a spell gone wrong that locks Donkey and Puss-in-Boots inside one another's bodies. While Fiona and the other Princesses prove they're anything but helpless women, Artie and Shrek battle their own fears of inadequacy in a struggle to discover their own self-worth. In the end, Shrek, Artie, and Fiona each learn a lot about their individual strengths and what truly makes each of them happy. Of course, it's the pervasive humor and wit that make Shrek the Third so side-splittingly appealing. Rated PG for some crude and suggestive humor, but appropriate for most families with children ages 6 and older. --Tami Horiuchi Beyond Shrek The Third

Boston Legal Season 3 starring: Boston Legal

Boston Legal continues to toggle with ease between comedy and pathos. The season begins on a bittersweet note as Denise (Julie Bowen) gets engaged to the terminally ill Daniel (Michael J. Fox), who disappears to try an experimental treatment. Enter two new litigators, smart-talking associate Claire Sims (Constance Zimmer) and cocky partner Jeffrey Coho (Craig Bierko). Once Daniel exits the picture, Jeffrey and Brad (Mark Valley) compete for Denise's affections. The firm soon welcomes a third new face: legal secretary Clarence (Gary Anthony Williams)--also known as Clarice, Clavant, and Oprah. As before, cases vary from minor to major. Story arcs include the murder of a judge's wife (with Ashton Holmes as the suspect and Katey Sagal as his mother) and an outrageous peeping tom (David Dean Bottrell) with a jones for Shirley (Candice Bergen). Denny Crane (William Shatner), meanwhile, finds love with diminutive attorney Bethany (Meredith Eaton-Gilden)--and her mother, Bella (Delta Burke). And Alan (James Spader, who scored a second Emmy to add to the one he received for The Practice) helps former co-worker Jerry "Hands" Espenson (Christian Clemenson) out of a few jams. By the end of the season, Jeffrey is gone, while Jerry returns to Crane, Poole & Schmidt.Throughout the year, the firm tackles a variety of timely issues, ranging from religious freedom to immigration law. Reporter Gracie Jane (Jill Brennan), a Nancy Grace doppelgänger, also comes in for some ribbing. Aside from recurring characters, like Jane Lynch (as a sexual surrogate), the third season counts a few actors behind the camera, such as Eric Stoltz ("Dumping Bella") and Adam Arkin ("Nuts"), from David E. Kelley's Chicago Hope. The featurette Character Witness looks at the year's most colorful characters--turns out Spader and Clemenson are old friends--and Out of Order looks at the judges, notably Gail O'Grady, Howard Hesseman, and Shelley Berman.

Knocked Up Unrated Two-Disc Collector's Edition starring: Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigl, Joanna Kerns, Loudon Wainwright III, Harold Ramis

Immature, Hilarious, Vulgar, More HilariousWhen I first started watching this movie, I was wondering why my co-worker who loves "The Office" as much, if not more, as I do would recommend this to me. The humor started off really goofy, and I didn't crack a smile. However, as soon as these guys hit up the bar and Ben taps Allison, the movie takes off into a whirlwind of vulgar, senseless jokes that had me dying laughing. There were so many times that I wanted to write down quotes just to laugh at them again. I rewound a bunch of scenes, specifically those two trying to have sex while she was pregnant. I have never seen a sex scene that made me cry laughing. The couple's night out when Ben told the other guy that he was cute and they started on this uncalled for conversation about hooking up made me roll over laughing. I'm sure most people will think this movie only appeals to teenage boys, but I'm a grown woman and loved every single moment of it. The humor is sarcastic and vulgar, the movie's plot isn't so creative, but the dialogue, the actors, and the comedy are classic. I, too, think after birth looks like cream of wheat, and I'm completely grossed out by the idea of mothers kissing their new babies in that old gross pile of ugh. I loved the guy characters! They didn't back down from the ladies, they were brutally honest, what would be considered "men's men," but they also didn't mistreat the women they loved. You have to have an open mind, a quirky sense of humor, and not be too queasy in order to enjoy this movie (although that [...] scene was completely uncalled for and I'm messed up for life after seeing that). Great movie! By the way, I loved seeing some of the cast of "The Office" on here, specifically the bodyguard who talked about old women and pregnant women. I like that actor so much. I wish he'd play a lead role in something. I still rap his song from "Daddy's Little Girls." Best line in the movie: Don't let the door hit you in the [...] on the way out.

Ratatouille

One key point: if you can get over the natural gag reflex of seeing hundreds of rodents swarming over a restaurant kitchen, you will be free to enjoy the glory of Ratatouille, a delectable Pixar hit. Our hero is Remy, a French rat (voiced by Patton Oswalt) with a cultivated palate, who rises from his humble beginnings to become head chef at a Paris restaurant. How this happens is the stuff of Pixar magic, that ineffable blend of headlong comedy, seamless technology, and wonder (in the latter department, this movie's views of nighttime Paris are on a par with French cinema at its most lyrical). Director Brad Bird (The Incredibles) doesn't quite keep all his spinning plates in the air, but the gags are great and the animation amazingly expressive--Remy's shrugs and nods are nimbler than many flesh-and-blood actors can manage. Refreshingly, the movie's characters aren't celebrity-reliant, with the most recognizable voice coming from Peter O'Toole's snide food critic. (This fellow provides the film's sole sour note--an oddly pointed slap at critics, those craven souls who have done nothing but rave about Pixar's movies over the years.) Brad Bird's style is more quick-hit and less resonant than the approach of Pixar honcho John Lasseter, but it's hard to complain about a movie that cooks up such bountiful pleasure

Family Guy, Volume 5 2006 starring: Family Guy

The majority of the people who gave this product a one star rating, not only rated it before this product came out, but only complained that it is a half season again. The first two volumes where whole seasons (volume one was 2 seasons). Then the real fans of family guy BEGGED the makers to add commentaries to all of the episodes in stead of just one in about 8 episodes. they have fulfilled that request in the last couple of volumes. so it is not just 13 episodes, but 26 when you add seth mcfarland and his crew's hilarious commentary. People who gave this product one star before even looking at this product are not true fans and should not review any family guy products.

Family Guy, Volume 5 2006 starring: Family Guy

The Secret Extended Edition starring: Rhonda Byrne, Paul Harrington, Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith, Neale Donald Walsch

The Secret (probably the most well-known of the presenters is Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul and The Success Principles). What is The Secret, exactly? "That principle can be summed up in three simple words: thoughts become things," proclaims writer Mike Dooley, author of Notes from the Universe. Put it another way, it's The Power of Positive Thinking and how it can be applied to attracting more money, better health, and relationships; in short, happiness. (There is a rundown of topics on the DVD Chapters menu).

Most of the material here is given in a straightforward manner, with the presenters simply talking into the camera to address the audience directly, which is good because it avoids the trap of pretense. On the other hand, the quick edits between presenters (would it hurt to let them say more than one sentence at a time?) don't help because it reduces many of their points to palatable sound bites and aphorisms. To many viewers, this may make the program come across as a series of nice ideas not rooted in reality. Plus it's somewhat spurious to claim that The Secret was well understood and practiced by specific individuals like Plato or Shakespeare (it's well known that some of the historical figures noted didn't exactly live happy or even prosperous lives, despite their achievements). But still, the primary message is one of positivity and hope for everyone. So what to make of it? In the end, programs like this generally find an audience that is open to the message, and many will probably find it to be a source of inspiration. Others will approach it with a good deal of skepticism or dismiss it as another way of marketing happiness the masses. It simply won't resonate with everyone, but if it resonates with you, you're likely to enjoy it and get a lot out of it

The Secret Extended Edition starring: Rhonda Byrne, Paul Harrington, Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith, Neale Donald Walsch

Mackenzie Phillips

Laura Mackenzie Phillips (born November 10, 1959 in Alexandria, Virginia) is an American actress and singer, known primarily for her roles in movies, soap operas and television.

The naturally brunette-headed Phillips skyrocketed her career in the 1970s and 1980s, where she's best known as Bonnie Franklin's rebellious yet boy-crazed daughter, Julie Cooper Horvath, on One Day at a Time (a role she played from 1975 to 1980 and from 1981 to 1983), and in the late 1990s and 2000s as Cara DeLizia's budding rock singer and single mother, Molly Phillips, on So Weird.

She is the daughter of The Mamas and the Papas' lead singer John Phillips and Susan Adams (aka Suzy January), a socialite. She was also the stepdaughter of group member Michelle Phillips, half-sister to Bijou Phillips and Chynna Phillips (all three have different mothers).

She was named in honor of her father's friend, songwriting collaborator and performing partner, Scott Mckenzie.

As a child, the biggest names in pop culture visited her house such as Tommy James from the band The Shondells, Neil Diamond, John Sebastian and Barry McGuire.

Mackenzie began to use drugs at an early age. She began to smoke marijuana and use LSD at the age of twelve, and was taught how to shoot up heroin by her father at the age of eighteen. [citation needed] Shortly after turning 18, she was aggressively seduced by Mick Jagger, visiting in the Phillips home, who told her, "I've been waiting to do this since you were ten years old." [1]

Her first major acting role was the part of "Carol" in American Graffiti (1973). In 1975, she started playing "boy crazy" Julie Cooper, the elder of two daughters, on the TV sitcom One Day at a Time. This was her most famous role.

Storm of the Century - Stephen King, starring: Tim Daly, Colm Feore, Debrah Farentino, Casey Siemaszko, Jeffrey DeMunn

"Give me what I want and I'll go away," demands the black-eyed, stocking-capped stranger Linoge (Colm Feore), who appears in a quiet island community on the verge of the worst storm in decades and brutally bludgeons an old lady to death. Tim Daly, the town sheriff and voice of reason and moral strength, locks up the quiet madman, but the deaths pile up as Linoge acts them out from his cell like a murderous mime pulling psychic strings. Stephen King, whose original teleplay is his best work for the screen since The Stand, transforms the sleepy burg into a Peyton Place of guilty secrets and criminal activity ripped from under a blanket of small town normality while the white-out of the snowstorm completely cuts them off from civilization. Director Craig R. Baxley nicely maintains an icy tension while the waiting game goes on, perhaps a little too long, before Linoge finally reveals "what he wants" and the drama turns into a struggle for man's soul in miniature. The more ambitious special effects and set pieces sometimes disappoint but are more than made up for in King's knack for turning the mundane into the macabre (the children's song "I'm a Little Teapot" has never sounded more sinister) and a few brilliantly realized sequences, the best of which occurs when townspeople are literally yanked out of existence while watching the storm. Storm of the Century is one of the most successful translations of King's brand of horror to the screen.

Planet Earth The Complete BBC Series starring: David Attenborough

Planet Earth is quite simply the greatest nature/wildlife series ever produced. Following the similarly monumental achievement of The Blue Planet: Seas of Life, this astonishing 11-part BBC series is brilliantly narrated by Sir David Attenborough and sensibly organized so that each 50-minute episode covers a specific geographical region and/or wildlife habitat (mountains, caves, deserts, shallow seas, seasonal forests, etc.) until the entire planet has been magnificently represented by the most astonishing sights and sounds you'll ever experience from the comforts of home. The premiere episode, "From Pole to Pole," serves as a primer for things to come, placing the entire series in proper context and giving a general overview of what to expect from each individual episode. Without being overtly political, the series maintains a consistent and subtle emphasis on the urgent need for ongoing conservation, best illustrated by the plight of polar bears whose very behavior is changing (to accommodate life-threatening changes in their fast-melting habitat) in the wake of global warming--a phenomenon that this series appropriately presents as scientific fact. With this harsh reality as subtext, the series proceeds to accentuate the positive, delivering a seemingly endless variety of natural wonders, from the spectacular mating displays of New Guinea's various birds of paradise to a rare encounter with Siberia's nearly-extinct Amur Leopards, of which only 30 remain in the wild.

That's just a hint of the marvels on display. Accompanied by majestic orchestral scores by George Fenton, every episode is packed with images so beautiful or so forcefully impressive (and so perfectly photographed by the BBC's tenacious high-definition camera crews) that you'll be rendered speechless by the splendor of it all. You'll see a seal struggling to out-maneuver a Great White Shark; swimming macaques in the Ganges delta; massive flocks of snow geese numbering in the hundreds of thousands; an awesome night-vision sequence of lions attacking an elephant; the Colugo (or "flying lemur"--not really a lemur!) of the Philippines; a hunting alliance of fish and snakes on Indonesia's magnificent coral reef; the bioluminescent "vampire squid" of the deep oceans... these are just a few of countless highlights, masterfully filmed from every conceivable angle, with frequent use of super-slow-motion and amazing motion-controlled time-lapse cinematography, and narrated by Attenborough with his trademark combination of observational wit and informative authority. The result is a hugely entertaining series that doesn't flinch from the predatory realities of nature (death is a constant presence, without being off-putting), and each episode ends with 10-minute "Planet Earth Diaries" (exclusive to this DVD set) that cover a specific aspect of production, like "Diving with Pirahnas" or "Into the Abyss" (the latter showing the rigors of filming the planet's most spectacular caves, including the last filming ever officially permitted in the "Chandelier Ballroom," a crystal-encrusted cavern found over a mile deep in New Mexico's treacherous Lechuguilla, the deepest cave in the continental United States.)

Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity starring: Jeff Dunham

Jeff Dunham and his socially reckless "suitcase posse" are back in this highly anticipated follow-up to Arguing with Myself, his breakthrough television special and multi-platinum selling DVD release! What's next?

An ALL NEW show that is Bigger... Better... and Funnier than ever!

This time, Dunham welcomes two never-before-seen partners "Achmed the Dead Terrorist," and "Melvin the Superhero." Long-time favorites "Peanut," "Walter" and Jose Jalapeno...On a STEEK! are back in an entirely original show for everyone!

Funnier Than Previous Dunham Material
Spark of Insanity was far funnier than any previous shows in Which I have seen Jeff Dunham and his puppets. Contrary to the one negative opinion I have read about the performance, I didn't have to gauge the reactions of audience members to know when it was time to laugh. It was very funny, and I must say that his tackling an issue, such as terrorism, with comedy, was funnier than I would have even thought it would be. Dunham is a very talented ventriloquist, with a fine sense of comedic timing. ...

Smallville - The Complete Sixth Season WOW!!!

Still Fresh After All of These Years
Smallville has always been able to keep the story going for all of these years without slowing down, and season six does not disappoint. The story is definitely getting bigger as Clark and the rest are getting closer and closer to the Superman story line. This season, we see the Justice League begin and Lex starts really showing his true colors. The first episode of the season is enough to get attention when it is about Clark escaping the Phantom Zone to then fight Zod, but it just keeps getting better. Things start to stop being grey as the characters start to take sides on where they stand. Overall, season six is great and well worth buying if you are a Smallville fan. There are just a lot of things in this season that are so awesome, Justice League!!!

Smallville The Complete Sixth Season starring: Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Annette O'Toole, John Glover

The Office Season Three starring: Rainn Wilson, Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Ed Helms

Season Three - Still making ya cringe!
Once this series got past the awkward first couple of episodes in Season One and the inevitable comparisons to the original British series, the American version of The Office has grown and grown into one of the funniest comedy shows in the last decade.
With situations so cringeworthy it's hard to imagine how the writers even came up with them. This Season, like Season Two keeps moving forward, with all the characters developing further. This Season has multiple classic episodes and some great new characters added into the mix of this near perfect comedy series.
The only problem is, I didn't want it to end and have to wait another year for the next Season to be available.
Along with My Name is Earl, The Office is flying the flag showing that American comedy is still No.1

The Office Season Three starring: Rainn Wilson, Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Ed Helms

Heroes Season One starring: Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka, Ali Larter, Adrian Pasdar, Milo Ventimiglia

Creator Tim Kring's premise is deceptively simple - ordinary individuals in locations around the globe discover that they have, for lack of a better term, super powers, and wrestle with this reality while facing challenges both global (the destruction of New York City, for one) and personal (indestructible cheerleader Hayden Panetierre has family issues - serious ones, as the true identity of her adoptive father reveals; Milo Ventimiglia's Peter Petrelli, who absorbs other powers, must overcome his own insecurities). Add to this mix a terrific villain - Zachary Quinto's Sylar, who hunts and kills people with extraordinary powers like our heroes - and viewers have a riveting series that exhibits an almost-perfect balance of cliffhanger thrills (the action and special effects are truly impressive for a network program) and genuine drama that sets the show apart from most speculative fiction (save, perhaps, the revived Battlestar Galactica, which it compares too favorably). The seven-disc set of Heroes: Season One offers a wealth of extras for fans, who may be familiar with some of them through the NBC.com website, especially the cast commentaries, which are featured on half of the episodes. Kring is featured on the 73-minute uncut pilot episode, which for some viewers, may be even better than the network version; the main difference is the degree of character development, including an entire storyline for D.L. Hawkins that isn't featured in the broadcast version. Also on deck are some 50 deleted scenes from the episodes, several by-the-books making-of featurettes, including coverage of the special effects and stunt work, and a profile of artist Tim Sale, whose illustrations are used for Isaac Mendez's prophetic artwork. Prospective buyers should note that while all of these supplemental features are included on the HD-DVD version of this set, the special Web-connectivity elements are not available here.

Grey's Anatomy The Complete Third Season starring: Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey

In the third season of Grey's Anatomy, one medical intern will get married to a superior while another is left standing at the altar. Two interns will lose their parents. And one main character will try to commit suicide--or not fight very hard to save her own life. There will be multiple hook-ups, infidelity, and trust issues. In between the soap opera-style drama that attracts millions of viewers each week, interns Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) will also perform some medical miracles. At the end of season 2, Izzie was distraught over the death of her fiancé, Denny. Now she finds that her very rich boyfriend has left her millions of dollars. Instead of putting the money into the bank and allowing it to accrue interest until she decides what she wants to do with it--as sensible Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) suggests--Izzie mopes around the house in an irritating stupor. Actually, irritating is an apt description for several of the main characters. It takes a leap of faith to believe that sexy, spectacular, and rich orthopedic surgeon Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) would be even vaguely interested in wishy-washy George. Previously, he'd convinced himself that he was in love with Meredith. Now he's pining for his other roommate, Izzie, even though he's already got Callie. And rather than welcoming her into their fold, Izzie and Meredith (and to a lesser extent Cristina) give Callie the mean-girls treatment. They may have rebuffed him at one point, but they don't want Callie to have him, either. There is something very needy about this group of interns who have no one to turn to but each other when a crisis occurs.

Viewers get some insight into "dark and twisty" Meredith's upbringing, as she spends more time with her cold and demanding mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, and her milquetoast father, who didn't fight very hard to have contact with her as a child after her mom kicked him out of their house. It's no wonder Meredith ended up emotionally damaged and unwilling to completely open up to Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) ... a.k.a. McDreamy. Though the show's title implies that Meredith is the most important character, it's not true. The ensemble cast, which also includes James Pickens Jr. as Dr. Richard Webber (who had a long and complicated affair with Meredith's mother) and Kate Walsh as Derek's ex-wife Addison, is fantastic. And it's difficult to outshine Oh, who has some of this season's funniest and emotional moments as she navigates a relationship with Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington), who is far more romantic and traditional than she is. Though not as compelling as the show's debut season, this third year still packs a strong emotional punch. --Jae-Ha Kim

Carol Ann Gotbaum died, the daughter-in-law of the Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum | Which Up!

Carol Anne Gotbaum, the daughter-in-law of the Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum(watch video above), died on Friday.

Carol Anne Gotbaum, as Phoenix police said, may have strangled herself while struggling to free herself from the cuffs.

She was arrested at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport after getting into a confrontation with gate crews who refused to allow her to board a plane to Tucson, said Sgt. Andy Hill, a Phoenix police spokesman.

“We are extraordinarily upset,” Betsy Gotbaum told the Daily News last night.

“We are very concerned about what happened at Phoenix airport. It’s under investigation and we are following that investigation,” she said. “She has three very small children. It’s a very delicate matter.”

A man who answered the phone at Carol Anne Gotbaum’s W. 95th St. townhouse apartment last night said, “This is a private family matter. Let us mourn in peace.”

Carol Anne Gotbaum, originally from South Africa, married Betsy Gotbaum’s stepson Noah in a ceremony at Central Park’s Loeb Boathouse in 1995. It was her second marriage; the first ended in divorce.

A US Airways spokesman said the plane was already preparing to depart when Carol Anne Gotbaum, who was traveling alone, arrived at the gate.

She was rebooked on the next flight, but “she became extremely irate, apparently running up and down the gate area,” airline spokesman Derek Hanna said yesterday.

paris hilton david letterman

Ex-con/socialite Paris Hilton appeared on "Late Night With David Letterman" last night -- and is sorry she did! The sardonic TV host harassed Hilton about her summer stay in the pokey -- and she wasn't having any of it. At one point during the interview, an audience member screamed, "I love you Paris!" Letterman quipped, "Is that somebody you met in prison?" Ha! As the crowd erupted in laughter, Paris paused and said, "I didn't come here to talk about this. That was a long time ago. Now you're making me sad that I came." Letterman then apologized and had Paris purring again.

golfer sutton

Latest golfer news. Hal Sutton was honoured Wednesday with the Payne Stewart Award, and he encouraged every golfer to find the balance in life that Stewart demonstrated before he was killed in plane crash almost eight years ago.
Sutton became the 10th player to win the award since it began in 2000, when Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus were the first recipients. It is given annually to a player who reflects Stewart's respect for golf traditions, his charitable work and presentation in dress.
His widow, Tracey, and daughter Chelsea, a senior at Clemson, were at the ceremony on the first tee at East Lake Golf Club.
Behind the grandstand was the 18th hole, where Sutton in 1998 saved par from a deep bunker to force a playoff with Vijay Singh, then beat him with a birdie on the par-3 closing hole.
Sutton, who choked up after talking about Stewart and his family, recalled searching for balance in his golf swing on the eve of the 1998 Tour Championship, and only later realizing he didn't have balance in his life.
They had a young daughter and his wife was pregnant with twins, and Sutton said all he thought about was winning the tournament.
"I had to walk away from golf on my terms to figure it all out," he said.
Sutton won 14 times in his career, including the 1983 PGA Championship in a duel against Jack Nicklaus and the 2001 Players Championship that came down to the wire against Tiger Woods. He was Ryder Cup captain in 2004, when the United States was soundly beaten by Europe and Sutton was criticized for pairing Woods and Phil Mickelson.
"To achieve at a high level, you have to lead a self-centred life," Sutton said.
He last played a PGA Tour event at Riviera in 2006, but has kept plenty busy opening a children's hospital in Shreveport, La., raising money for Hurricane Katrina victims and building a golf course. These last few years have taught Sutton that his identity does not have to come through golf.
His message to young players?
"Don't be so self-serving," he said. "Think of others as you walk through life, because sooner or later you're going to need them."
